New Delhi: The National Conference President Farooq Abdullah who had tested positive for civid-19 recently has now been hospotalised for better treatment. The information was shared by his son Omar Abdudllah on Twitter. In his tweet, he informed that the former J&K CM has been admitted to hospital in Srinagar on the advice of doctors to enable them to better monitor him. He also added that his family is grateful to everyone for their messages of support and their and prayers. 

The veteran leader had tested positive for covid-19 on Tuesday and was being managed at his high security Gupkar Road residence in Srinagar. He had contracted the virus weeks after being administered the first dose of covid-19 vaccine and was symptomatic. 

“My father has tested positive for Covid-19 and is showing some symptoms. I will be self-isolating along with other family members until we get ourselves tested. I request anyone who has come in to contact with us over the last few days to take all the mandated precautions,” Omar Abdullah had tweeted on Tuesday

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir reported 517 new cases of coronavirus on  Friday, taking the overall tally of infections in the state to 1,31,938.  In the same duration, the Union Territory also logged in five fatality, pushing the death toll to 2,003. Of total, 96 cases were from the Jammu adn Kashmir, while 421 were found in the Kashmir region.

Faruq Abdullah and Omar Abduallah were released last year from a-year-long detention following the unrest in the valley that was caused over the scrapping of Article 370.
